Newman and Redford: Cinematic Icons

Paul Newman and Robert Redford made two of the greatest “Buddy Movies” in the history of cinema in the 1970’s.

“Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” (actually released late in 1969) was directed by George Roy Hill and featured great acting and a sibling- like dynamic between the actors who were about nine years apart in age.

“The Sting” (1973) was also directed by Hill. This project was nominated for 10 Academy Awards and won seven. Redford was nominated for a Best Actor statue, and the movie was credited with rekindling Newman’s career after a series of big screen flops.

Here is one of my favorite scenes from “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”
