Between 1967 and 1973, The 5th Dimension had an amazing 20 top 40 hits on the Billboard hot 40 charts. They were fixtures on TV musical variety shows, and their songs received constant airplay on pop radio stations of the day.
All This was against a backdrop of protests against American involvement in the Vietnam War, violence on college campuses, and on the streets of American cities.
Although some of their music could be put into the psychedelic category, most of their songs were underlined by an undercurrent of cheerful optimism that endures in the memories of their fans old and new.
